Rose

We technically co-own Rose with my mother and little sister Elle, but Rose thinks she owns Elle (her own personal human). Rose is very beautiful (and she knows it), very happy, and (in my opinion) more than a bit spoiled (but that's okay). Rose is one of Buttercup and Red's kids from our 2001 litter. Rosie has had 2 litters, her first in July 2005, and her second in September 2007. She is OFA "Excellent", CERF "Clear" and has OFA Patellas "Normal" (CHIC).

Some people say that shibas don't make good pets for children, but I'll tell you that it depends on the shiba and the child, and (most especially) on the adult(s) who are ultimately responsible for them both. An easy-going, happy, laid back shiba like Rose, and a mellow, sensible kid like Elle are a wonderful combination together. (Some shibas aren't suitable pets for any child, and some children aren't suitable companions for any shiba). What really makes this situation work is that both Elle AND Rose respect and listen to my parents - when Elle is being to much for Rose (which is normal for a 7 year old), Elle gets a time out, and when Rose is being too much for Elle (which is normal for a young shiba), Rose gets a time out. Since neither of them like "time outs", they both try to avoid them, and they have lots of fun together!
